The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index, Canada's benchmark index for the public venture capital marketplace, is managed by Standard & Poor's, a leading global provider of financial information and investment analysis. It is a market capitalization-based index meant to provide an indication of performance for issuers listed on TSX Venture Exchange.
The index does not have a fixed number of issuers, and is revised quarterly based on the Criteria for Inclusion and Maintenance Policies accessible through the links below. The revision process involves removing issuers that comprise less than 0.05% of the weight of the index, and adding issuers whose weight, when included, will comprise greater than 0.05% of the index. New candidates will only be added at the quarter-end as per the quarterly revision procedures.
TSX Venture Exchange issuers are eligible for inclusion in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index if they are incorporated under Canadian federal, provincial, or territorial jurisdictions, and represent a relative weight of at least 0.05% of the total index market capitalization. Stocks eligible for inclusion must generally be listed on TSX Venture Exchange for at least 12 full calendar months as of the effective date of the quarterly revision.
